WPCCN The mission of The West Philadelphia Child Care Network (WPCCN): The WPCCN strengthens early education and child care in West and Southwest Philadelphia through professional training, resource development and advocacy. WPCCN SERVICES Keystone Stars * Keystone Stars approved professional development opportunities WPCCN staff of seasoned Early Childhood professionals is experienced in providing Keystone Stars technical assistance in these areas: Curriculum Development, Content and Activities; Child Development; Professional Development; Program Administration; Conflict Resolution and Health and Safety. Call Norma Latham at 267-531-5245 ext 108 Professional Development Opportunities Professional Development opportunities are facilitated by certified PQAS instructors, WPCCN offers classes and sessions that meet DPW requirements and Keystone Stars standards. Instructors provide useful information, effective strategies and up-to-date research on how to create a quality child care environmnet for children. To learn about our professional development programs contact Kweli Archie at 267-531-5245 ext 106 How to "start-up" a Family Child Care A 12 hour course teachers potential practitioners how to develop policies, set rates and understand the Keystone Stars system; to identify Basic Marketing techniques and learn about Child Development; to review the Health and Safety regulations of the city and the State plus learn about resources to help support your business. Call Kweli Archie at 267-531-5245 ext 106 WPCCN also offers an Independent Child Development Associate (CDA) Resource Room A toy, activity, and book lending library and resource center for child care practitioners: family-based, neighbor and relative, and centers. Practitioners can borrow materials and equipment to support children's learning. Resource materials include: Infant Toddler toys and music, Literacy Book Packs, Dramatic Play and Active Play equipment, and theme kits filled with an assortment of toys, books, and activities in many areas: Math, Science, Multi-Cultural, Social Studies, Music, and Art; also Teacher Resource and Parenting Books and much, much more.
